The Brooks Powers Group believes that combining multiple people into a problem-solving team will accelerate the learning potential of the group. By collaborating with the Riverview School District staff, multiple student intervention successes have been the result. Through this teaming process school staff have acquired new tools and skills to use on a daily basis.

My son was falling behind in school in 9th grade. He wasn’t able to manage his time to track and complete assignments. We didn’t know what to do to help him. A friend recommended Brooks Powers group. I talked to Tom Powers and made an appointment for my son to come in and talk to him. Tom established a rapport with my son and helped him to break down schoolwork into manageable pieces so they would be less overwhelming.
For 10th grade, my son met with Maggie on a weekly basis to help him to track his assignments and manage his time to complete them. After a few months, it became habit. He is doing really well this year. It really helped to have someone who knew what to do and wasn’t his parents, helping him. I have recommended the Brooks Powers group to several friends and will continue to do so.An appreciative parent
The Brooks Powers Group has been an integral part of supporting our staff in developing appropriate programming for students with significant social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. We have been able to create a unique model that blends student support with staff development. This process builds our own competency in identifying, designing, and implementing supports for a greater spectrum of needs.

Our son would not have stayed in high school without help from Brooks Powers Group. He was failing all of his classes and had no motivation to learn. Tom Powers met with our son to determine what course of action needed to be taken to improve his ability to succeed in the classroom. Tom worked as an advocate for our son with his high school counselors’ to devise a plan that would support our son’s learning needs.

In addition Brooks Powers Group provided an excellent tutor who comes to our house during the school week to help our son with homework. Our son’s tutor keeps in contact with his teachers to identify daily assignments and whether completed work has been turned in on time. She possesses the patience and skills to encourage our son to be a productive student. We feel indebted to Brooks Powers Group for all their help to guide our son towards graduation from high school.
